Scheduled to open in mid-2026 and designed to deliver seamless, patient-centred care, the centre will integrate radiation therapy alongside existing surgical and medical oncology services, bringing world-class cancer care closer to home for patients in Melbourne’s west. Recruitment is now open for a Cancer Nurse Consultant to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis , commencing May 2026 , across our western suburbs’ locations (Werribee / Footscray). This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in establishing clinical practice within a newly built centre, supporting patients through their radiotherapy journey from day one. About the role As a Cancer Nurse Consultant, you will provide individualised, coordinated and evidence-based care for patients undergoing radiotherapy at our new centre located within St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Werribee. You will partner closely with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure treatment and care is delivered with compassion, clarity and clinical excellence. You’ll also act as a trusted clinical expert, supporting care planning, education and smooth transitions between health services. Key responsibilities include: Patient care coordination & education Coordinating care and ensuring seamless transitions between referring services and GenesisCare Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and developing care management plans for complex needs Facilitating and leading Nurse-Led Clinics Participating in multidisciplinary meetings to support optimal patient outcomes Professional leadership & clinical practice Acting as a role model and expert clinician in oncology nursing Providing leadership in best-practice review and nursing education Contributing to professional committees and clinical interest groups Research, quality & service development Initiating and applying research to improve clinical practice Supporting local research and quality improvement initiatives Contributing to the development of care pathways, policies and clinical processes Building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders About you We’re keen to hear from nurses who bring both clinical expertise and a passion for patient-centred care, including: Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration Minimum 5 years’ experience in oncology nursing Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in Oncology Nursing, Advanced Nursing or similar Strong communication, coordination and relationship-building skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively across the cancer care continuum A collaborative mindset and commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care Why join GenesisCare?
