Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia. It is home to Australia’s largest First Nations population who reside in urban, remote and very remote communities. As Head of the Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, your primary objective is to provide leadership and direct line management of the ENT surgery department, including human resource management, supervision of medical staff and departmental performance. You will also participate as a member of a senior management and support divisional clinical governance, operations and implement strategic programs. Your key duties will include the management of patient flow and demand management strategies, safety and quality, clinical audit and review, staff mentoring and training, and leading a culture of high-performing teams. You will also be responsible for fostering partnerships between healthcare providers and leading continuous quality improvement activities to enhance the capacity for multi-disciplinary care and contribute to NT Health clinical leadership. To be successful you require eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, Fellowship of a relevant Medical College, and recognition as a professional leader in the provision of specialist ENT services. A commitment to ensuring equity of access to quality healthcare, participation in continuing education, teaching and research, and a proven track record in clinical excellence is essential.
