This role is ideal for an Intermediate Accountant who is confident handling compliance work independently and is ready to expand their exposure to more complex matters and client interaction. You will manage your own workload whilst receiving guidance and review support, with clear pathways to senior-level responsibilities over time. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and companies BAS preparation and lodgement Assisting with tax compliance and advisory matters under supervision Direct communication with clients for information gathering and routine queries Supporting senior accountants with workflow and client deliverables Maintaining strong attention to detail and compliance with deadlines EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Degree in Accounting or a related discipline Currently studying or intending to study CA or CPA (or recently qualified) Approximately 2–4 years’ experience in an Australian public practice firm Sound understanding of Australian tax and accounting fundamentals Experience using accounting software such as Xero or MYOB Strong organisational skills and willingness to learn THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE Competitive remuneration aligned to experience Supportive team environment with hands-on training Exposure to a diverse and interesting client base Clear development pathway toward Senior Accountant level Opportunity to build a long-term career in a stable regional firm Enjoy Cairns’ lifestyle while continuing your professional growth Please note: This job is based in Australia therefore, only candidates who are permanent residents or citizens of Australia or NZ will be considered.
