NETWORK ENGINEER - Service Provider (ASR9K, IPv6, Segment Routing) Join a globally recognised engineering team delivering and evolving large-scale Service Provider IP/MPLS networks across national and international backbone infrastructure. This role is ideal for engineers with hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting carrier-grade networks using Cisco Service Provider platforms. It's a contract role that will initially run for 12 months which is likely to be extended for years to come. Candidates must have full working rights in Australia. Hybrid role - 3 days onsite What you'll do Design, deploy and support carrier-grade IP/MPLS backbone networks using Cisco ASR9000 (IOS-XR) platforms Deliver backbone upgrades, migrations, and network expansion programs across core, aggregation, and edge layers Implement and optimise routing technologies including BGP, IS-IS, MPLS L3VPN, IPv6, and Segment Routing Troubleshoot complex production network issues and lead incident resolution across multi-vendor environments Support deployment of new services, capacity upgrades, and infrastructure modernisation initiatives Collaborate with engineering, operations, and vendor teams to ensure scalable, resilient network architecture What you bring Experience working with Cisco Service Provider platforms, particularly ASR9K and IOS-XR Strong hands-on experience with MPLS, BGP, IS-IS, IPv6, and Segment Routing in carrier or large-scale environments Proven experience supporting or deploying IP/MPLS backbone or core networks Ability to troubleshoot routing, transport, and backbone infrastructure issues in production environments Experience working in telecom, Service Provider, or large-scale managed network environments Nice to have Experience with Juniper MX, Nokia SR, or multi-vendor backbone environments Exposure to EVPN, traffic engineering, or automation tools (Python, Ansible) CCNP Service Provider, CCIE, or equivalent experience If this sounds like the right role for the next step in your career, please apply within or contact David at david.bolton(at)aurec.com
