Adonai Foods has had a successful year in 2025, growing it’s patron-base to warrant the hiring of a Cook to accompany the existing kitchen-staff. As the only restaurant in Melbourne serving Nigerian food (and related West-African cuisines), we’re looking for a cook who is familiar with this type of food, and has pre-existing kitchen experience. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting Chef in the preparation and cooking of Nigerian / West-African cuisine. Examining and maintaining foodstuffs to ensure quality. Monitoring and operating cooking equipment. Portioning food, plating and following Chef’s serving instructions for foods/dishes. Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities and cleaning food preparation areas. Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Passion for delivering high-quality food with familiarity with Nigerian / West-African cuisine. Ability to collaborate with kitchen staff and follow guidance/instruction from Chef/s. Strong attention to details and organizational skills. Good communication skills (written and verbal) Qualifications: MINIMUM; Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (or higher). Experience: At least 2 years of work experience as a chef, desirable familiarity with African cuisines.
