In this role, you will operate a range of heavy machinery—including compactors, excavators, loaders, water trucks, and skid steers—ensuring all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with WHS and site procedures. You will take responsibility for conducting daily equipment checks, performing minor maintenance as required, and maintaining accurate work records. The ideal candidate is reliable, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and committed to upholding Council values while supporting the smooth and professional operation of essential waste management services for the Alice Springs community. This position requires working on a rotating roster, including weekends. Skills And Experiences What You Will Bring You will bring proven expertise in operating a variety of heavy vehicles, plant, and machinery, including compaction and excavation equipment, with precision and efficiency. With strong mechanical aptitude, you confidently conduct pre-operational checks and minor maintenance to ensure smooth, safe operations. You excel in both independent and team environments, communicating effectively with colleagues and the public using professional skills, including two-way radios. Physically capable and safety-conscious, you work confidently outdoors in all weather while adhering to WHS standards. Holding a current Heavy Rigid (HR) licence, you combine technical skill, professionalism, and a commitment to operational excellence to make a real impact on the team and the Alice Springs community. Must Have: Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence to be able to drive in the NT, Current National Police Clearance.
