Job Title: Retail Manager TEJVIR ENTERPRISE PTY LTD T/A Vic Fields Fresh Market Location: SUNSHINE, VIC-3020 Position Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week) Salary: $80000 Superannuation per year Job Overview: Vic Fields Fresh Market is looking for Retail Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the grocery store, ensuring that the store runs efficiently, profitably, and meets customer expectations. This role involves managing staff, inventory, customer service, and sales targets, while ensuring compliance with company policies, health, and safety regulations. The Retail Manager must create a positive shopping experience for customers and maintain high store standards. Key Responsibilities Supervise, train, mentor, and develop team members including front-line staff Allocate daily duties, set performance expectations, and monitor productivity Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback Manage staff matters including rostering, attendance, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes Foster a positive, professional, and high-performing workplace culture Ensure consistently high standards of customer service Handle customer enquiries and complaints promptly and professionally Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment Implement and enforce company customer service policies Drive sales performance and achieve store targets Manage budgets and control operational costs including labour and shrinkage Develop strategies to improve profitability, promotions, and seasonal offerings Analyse sales reports to identify trends and growth opportunities Oversee inventory management including stock levels, rotation, ordering, and waste minimisation Ensure merchandising displays are attractive, organised, and compliant with company guidelines Liaise with suppliers to maintain competitive pricing and product availability Ensure compliance with workplace health & safety, food safety standards, and company policies Conduct regular operational audits covering cleanliness, inventory accuracy, and safety procedures Manage cash handling processes and ensure security compliance Coordinate store opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation and security checks Monitor and maintain store equipment such as refrigeration units and POS systems Implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste Maintain regular communication with senior management regarding store performance and staffing matters Conduct team meetings to ensure alignment with business goals and company policies Qualifications: Diploma or higher qualification in business administration, or a related field (preferred). Must have 12 months experience in retail sector, preferably in the grocery or food industry in Australia/Overseas Strong understanding of market research, sales strategies, and customer service. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in digital marketing tools and social media platforms. Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of fruit and vegetable products and their market dynamics is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 20 Kg for extended periods. Must be able to bend, kneel, and reach to stock and retrieve products. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment for short durations. Working Conditions: Retail store environment with varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Fast-paced work environment, especially during peak business hours.
