About the Team The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Queensland Children's Hospital admits around 2000 children per year, with complex and high acuity health needs. The service is a state-of-the-art facility with 36 beds and admits children from across Queensland and Northern New South Wales. The QCH PICU is a centre of excellence for trauma and burns, cardiac surgical services, paediatric oncology/haematology, neurocritical care, and general surgical and medical intensive care. About the Role The PICU CN Research will assist in the 'Protecting skin from Device harm across the Lifespan in Critical illness: The DEFENCE project'. DEFENCE is an NHMRC multi-site trial, with QCH the primary paediatric partner, along with The University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. This multi-site trial will use an implementation-effectiveness approach where we will co-develop, with partners, implementation strategies targeted to guide the uptake of bundled evidence-based best practices, the SAFE-T bundle, to prevent Medical Device Related Pressure Injury (MDRPI). We will test the effectiveness of the bundle, including adoption, fidelity, acceptability and cost-effectiveness using a sequential, incomplete, stepped-wedge, cluster randomised trial design.
