The Sydney School of Health Sciences is seeking to appoint a Professional Practitioner to assist With the StEP Fit program. This is an on-campus placement hosted for University of Syndey undergraduate and coursework exercise physiology (EP) students and undergraduate coursework exercise science (ES) students requiring experience with low-risk clientele. The program aims for an educational experience for students designed to meet the accreditation requirements of their degree, and an opportunity for the community to develop and improve their overall fitness and health as part of a 10-week exercise and teaching program. Your key responsibilities will be to: Undertake teaching and supervision of students in a simulated or real exercise clinical setting, applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best practice teaching, including gym and workshop activities complete student placement assessments (completed during the non-client hours) review and implement learning support plans develop teaching, subject and assessment materials under the supervision of more senior clinicians or academic staff provide advice, mentoring, and guidance to students to prepare them for engaging in clinical practice contribute to student orientation and preparation for placement teaching activities undertake administration of clinic activities: - schedule and timetable students for each program deliver - reschedule students and/or clients based on absences on the day ensuring students are rescheduled to meet accreditation hours requirements deliver professional standards training and education to students to prepare them to meet eligibility requirements for completion of a degree leading to professional registration. apply professional clinical experience and knowledge to inform clinical educational practice, delivery, and reform apply expertise in clinical practice to provide training and support to other academic staff on effective, innovative and contemporary clinical practice contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, innovation, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled maintain an understanding of the University’s strategic agenda and actively contribute to furthering that agenda actively represent the University in partner organisations, clinical settings, and the community, maintaining productive links between the university and clinical or industry partners undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required. About you Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field an allied health professional qualification or equivalent professional experience significant recent clinical expertise in any area of Exercise Physiology with current registration or eligibility to register with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Scientist or Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate students in the provision of outstanding patient care demonstrated experience of contemporary clinical education practices and effective curriculum design significant experience working in an exercise clinical setting and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform clinical practice teaching (more than 3 years post accredited primary healthcare qualification) experience in clinical or simulated teaching and learning in a tertiary environment (or clinical placement), as evidenced by student coaching and skills development demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
