Your Role at St John of God, Midland Hospital The Patient Food Services Supervisor supports the delivery of high-quality meal services to patients, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and compliance with food safety and hospital standards. Working closely with the Manager Catering Services, the role oversees daily food service operations, including meal distribution, staff supervision, and rostering. in this role you will ensure efficient service delivery, support staff performance, and contributes to a positive patient experience through timely, accurate, and compassionate food service. This is a Permanent part-time position, working 60 hours per fortnight. The Position Act as a role model within the Catering Department, demonstrating exemplary conduct, safe food handling, and promoting a supportive, team-oriented workplace. Responsible for the service levels in the distribution of daily food requirements. Monitor and maintain high standards of customer and patient service delivery Menu and service planning, including reviewing recipes and meal schedules, in consultation with the Manager Catering Services and Dietitian Assist with the implementation and review of cleaning routines to ensure compliance with HDWA and Infection Control guidelines Ensure all food safety standards, compliance documentation, codes of practice, and legislative requirements are met and maintained Support the Manager Catering Services with recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff training Manage caregiver rosters and annual leave to maintain effective service levels Monitor and manage stock requisitioning (perishable and non-perishable items) and liaise with suppliers as required Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly audits to meet Hospital Food Safety Plan and Quality Management requirements Contribute to food, dietetic, and quality improvement initiatives and implement recommended changes Participate in departmental quality groups and taskforces as required Represent the Manager Catering Services at meetings when required The Position Requirements You will demonstrate supervisory experience within similar role and possess experience in rostering and in delivering performance development appraisals. Knowledge of and experience in Safe food handling practices (HACCP and Food Safety) and demonstrated knowledge and exposure to special dietary controls, will be essential to this role. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential to lead diverse teams, support safe work practices, and engaging effectively with patients and customers. Candidates must also possess strong organisational, numeracy, and computer skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and confidently use Microsoft Office.
