The Assistant Director, Regulated Worker Standards assists in managing a team responsible for providing research, analysis, and support to Fair Work Commission (the Commission) Members, Expert Panels, or Full Benches exercising statutory functions related to the setting of minimum standards orders and supply chain orders for regulated workers (employee-like workers and road transport contractors) under Part 3A and 3B of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). Under broad direction, the Assistant Director will contribute to the production of high-quality research, analysis, and case management support for relevant matters. The Assistant Director will develop and manage excellent working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders in the support of relevant matters. They will have in-depth knowledge and experience of workplace relations matters relevant to the Fair Work Act 2009 and knowledge relevant to Part 3A and 3B. The Assistant Director will also assist the team working across the Commission on targeted communication and engagement activities with regulated workers and businesses. The key duties of the position include Assist the Director, Regulated Worker Standards in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality research, analysis, and other support to assist Commission Members, Expert Panels or Full Benches exercising statutory functions related to the setting of minimum standards orders and supply chain orders for regulated workers (employee-like workers and road transport contractors) under Part 3A and 3B of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) before the Commission. Oversee and undertake research on complex matters relating to minimum standards orders and road transport contractual chain orders and relevant legislation and advise on findings. Build team capabilities by providing leadership to staff in the team, including developing, coaching, motivating, and mentoring staff and managing performance. Where required, assist the Director, Regulated Worker Standards to: Undertake external engagement to inform the Commission's work (including with stakeholders, domestic and international government agencies, and academic institutions). Chair external stakeholder and/or reference groups to support relevant matters. Recommend and contribute to strategic direction for the work area and develop work plans for delivery of functions that align with organisational goals and objectives. Develop and manage working relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders including by engaging and collaborating with other Branches to ensure high quality support and services are provided to Commission Members and tribunal users. Other duties as directed by the Director, Regulated Worker Standards and/or the Executive Director, Labour Standards Support.
