The key duties of the position include The Role Mental Health and Wellbeing Branch are recruiting 2 x APS 6 Psychosocial Wellbeing Officers within the Psychosocial Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention Directorate. These roles contribute to the development of workforce projects and initiatives, including psychosocial risk, vicarious and secondary trauma and fatigue related education and resources that strengthen the workforce approach to psychosocial wellbeing within the Defence context. About our Team The Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHW) Branch is the lead for Workforce Mental Health policy and programs and enables the assured and continuous improvement of Mental Health & Wellbeing across the Defence enterprise. The Branch, comprised of military members and civilian employees, forms an inter-disciplinary team focused on improving the mental health and wellbeing of the Defence community. A primary function of the Branch is the facilitation and implementation of the Defence and Veteran Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025-2030 . The Strategic Advisory Group (SAG), within the MHW Branch, is a high-performing team of public health and allied health subject matter experts. The Psychosocial Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention directorate within SAG provides evidence-based initiatives, insights, and policy guidance to advance Defence's psychosocial wellbeing and suicide prevention system. Our Ideal Candidate Highly desirable skills of our ideal candidate include: Experience engaging stakeholders to achieve organisational outcomes; Experience developing evidence-based psychosocial risk, mental health and wellbeing or fatigue related content; Knowledge and experience in the development, measurement and evaluation of psychosocial risk and wellbeing initiatives, policy and programs; Demonstrated ability to apply evidence-based research to maintain and continuously improve mental health and wellbeing programs; Experience in preparing briefs, reports and talking points, including leadership recommendations; Understanding of project management skills; Delivery of education sessions (psychosocial risk, wellbeing or fatigue related); Understanding of one or more of the following: the application of trauma-informed principles in the workplace, suicide risk factors and prevention, vicarious and secondary trauma, and fatigue management considerations; Experience influencing cultural shift in a large organisation.
