Salary from 12 March 2026: $79,125 - $86,246 per annum, plus 15.4% superannuation Position Overview The Assistant Librarian works as part of the Adelaide Library team in the provision of a high-quality library and information service to Judges, Registrars and staff of the Federal Court of Australia, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the National Native Title Tribunal in South Australia and the Northern Territory. The role delivers a broad range of effective library operational duties, including but not limited to, ready reference enquiries, current awareness, collection management, maintaining loose leaf services, and a responsibility for the Library and Chambers binding program. The key duties of the position include About the role As part of the national library team this role will also be actively engaged with team members around the country in inter-library loan and document delivery requests, in acquisition tasks and other work related to centralised processes, in contributing to current awareness publications produced by the library, and with project work as it arises. Library team members regularly meet to discuss work related developments, to share experiences and to participate in training and development. Position Duties 1. Client Services Respond effectively, promptly, and courteously to all reference and document requests including Inter-library loans Assist clients in the use of legal research tools and library resources 2. Current Awareness Select and index articles for library current awareness services 3. Collection Development, organisation and maintenance Place orders for new material to be held in the Library and Chambers collections Process new material using the library management system Process incoming mail Process invoices onto Finance One File and keep loose-leaf services up to date Maintain and enhance library databases Undertake regular collection activities including binding, shelving and stocktake of collections 4. Library Management Be a committed member of the local and national library team by continuing to the initiation of improved and new services and changes to procedures Participate in the Court's performance management program Participate in the activities of relevant professional bodies and associations in the library and information sector
