Operations Manager VIC – Lead Logistics Excellence in Essential Services Are you a hands-on operations leader who thrives on optimising logistics, leading teams, and delivering reliable service outcomes? Med-X, part of the Freightways Group – one of Australasia’s largest logistics and information management organisations – is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead logistics, route planning, processing and operational performance at our two Victorian branches. This is a critical leadership role where you’ll take ownership of day-to-day logistics execution while providing oversight of warehouse and factory operations to ensure seamless, end-to-end service delivery in a safety-critical, regulated environment. What you’ll do Take ownership of logistics and operational performance across the branch, ensuring safe, efficient, and commercially optimised service delivery. • Lead daily logistics and route planning operations to ensure routes are achievable, efficient, and aligned to customer commitments • Build, review, and continuously optimise routes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and reflect real-world operating conditions • Oversee route planning systems and data integrity (including Verzion and CE), ensuring ongoing system accuracy and health • Lead and manage Service Technician Drivers and logistics staff, ensuring safety, compliance, and customer-focused service • Manage fleet operations including vehicle utilisation, maintenance, roadworthiness, presentation, and compliance • Provide operational leadership across warehouse and factory functions to ensure stock availability, loading accuracy, and smooth route execution • Monitor logistics KPIs, analyse performance trends, conduct root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement • Manage logistics-related costs, labour, fleet expenditure, and purchase orders within approved budgets • Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Key Accounts, IT, and Branch Management to optimise service outcomes and support growth • Communicate daily operational priorities, risks, and changes across teams and stakeholders • Lead by example in safety, professionalism, and pride in company assets What we’re looking for An experienced logistics and operations leader with a strong commercial mindset and a passion for safety and service excellence. • 5 years’ experience in logistics, route planning, transport, or operations management (service-based or regulated industries preferred) • Proven leadership experience managing drivers, planners, or logistics teams • Demonstrated expertise in route optimisation, logistics systems, and operational execution • Strong understanding of fleet management, transport compliance, and safety requirements • Experience managing operational budgets and cost drivers • Highly organised, analytical, and solution-focused, with strong decision-making skills • Confident leader and communicator with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across departments • Strong systems discipline and attention to data accuracy • Relevant qualifications in logistics, supply chain, operations, or management (preferred) Why join Med-X? • Step into a senior operational leadership role with real influence and autonomy • Be part of a respected national brand backed by the Freightways Group • Work in an essential, sustainability-focused industry with long-term stability • Enjoy strong internal support, collaboration, and career development opportunities • Join a business that values safety, innovation, accountability, and people We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
