Key Responsibilities: Plan, design, and prepare a variety of dishes aligned with the restaurant’s culinary vision. Create and cost menus, considering seasonality, availability of ingredients, and customer preferences. Develop new recipes and refine existing ones to maintain culinary excellence. Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards. Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages, from preparation to plating. Adapt dishes to meet specific dietary requirements or customer preferences. Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring a cohesive and productive team. Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen assistants, promoting skill development. Oversee kitchen cleanliness and maintenance, ensuring all equipment is in working order. Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and workplace health and safety standards. Monitor food storage, ensuring all ingredients are handled and stored properly to prevent spoilage. Keep detailed records of kitchen activities, including inventory and waste management. Manage kitchen inventory by ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels. Monitor costs and minimize waste to ensure financial efficiency without compromising quality. Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery. Respond to customer feedback, adjusting menus or processes as required. Skills and Qualifications: Relevant Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification. Formal culinary training is highly regarded. At least one year of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen. Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments with high-volume service. Expertise in a variety of cooking techniques and cuisines. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent time management and organizational skills. High attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent quality. Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
