Join us as our new Geomatics Survey Specialist DOF Australia Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced, highly motivated Geomatics Survey Specialist to lead our data operations. In this role, you will be the bridge between complex field data and high-quality project deliverables. You’ll manage end-to-end geomatics workflows, ensure rigorous industry compliance, and collaborate with project teams to maintain our reputation for excellence and HSEQ integrity. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Planning & Technical Readiness Reporting line : Survey & Geomatics Lead Strategic Support: Support the Survey & Inspection Lead during project planning and preparation phases. Resource Management: Liaise with Asset Leads to determine hardware/software needs and manage software licensing. System Setup: Configure offline and online hardware and software environments for seamless project execution. External Collaboration: Coordinate with subcontractors and client liaison 2. Equipment & Systems Management Hardware Oversight: Maintain functional integrity of NAS drives, dongles, HDDs, Azure storage and VMs, and client-specific applications. Software Optimisation: Configure and operate advanced data processing suites. Process Governance: Ensure all procedures and workflows within IMS and UniSea remain current and compliant. 3. Data Acquisition & Workflow Management Field Oversight: Manage vessel-based data acquisition and oversee the end-to-end transfer of data to office, cloud, and archive systems. Compliance: Guarantee that all survey, geophysical and inspection data collection aligns with approved policies, industry standards, and client requirements. 4. Technical Data Processing Multidisciplinary Processing: Process complex offshore datasets, including multibeam, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, bathymetry, and navigation. Geospatial Visualisation: Utilise GIS and charting software to process and visualise data for final delivery. Technical Coordination: Oversee the geomatics processing workflow and provide direction to data processors, geophysicists and multidisciplinary teams. 5. Quality Assurance & Data Integrity Data Stewardship: Maintain rigorous data integrity and ensure all databases reflect real-time project status. QA/QC Leadership: Develop and monitor QC processes for NAS and cloud systems and GIS data; perform final audits on all deliverables prior to client handover. 6. Reporting & Deliverables Documentation: Lead the preparation of final reports and perform technical reviews of peer reports. Field Leadership: Act as the offshore Report Coordinator, providing essential support to offline teams and project stakeholders. 7. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Digital Transformation: Explore emerging technologies and methodologies to drive department-wide innovation. Process Evolution: Continuously develop and refine project execution procedures to stay ahead of industry standards. Requirements Technical Expertise: Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting survey hardware and software suites. Processing Mastery: Expert-level skill in processing multibeam, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, and navigation. GIS & Data Management: Strong Knowledge of GIS, charting tools, cloud-based workflows, and QA/QC methodologies. Operational Agility: Proven ability to manage complex data transfers, archiving, and multi-stage delivery schedules. Soft Skills: Exceptional organisational, time-management, and proactive problem-solving abilities. Qualifications & Experience Requirements Education Degree or Diploma in Hydrographic Surveying / Geophysics, Geoscience Or a closely related discipline. Experience Experience: 5 years of dedicated offshore data processing experience. Proven track record on complex offshore survey projects. Certification: Must meet or exceed IMCA competence criteria for a Geomatic Surveyor.
