The Role An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Unit Manager (Pandanus Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. You will Demonstrate advanced knowledge of contemporary mental health nursing practice Provide operational and clinical leadership to a diverse multicultural team Implement processes and strategies that align service delivery to broader service and organisational goals Function as a clinical nursing expert for the Unit to develop team capability and to champion proactive and contemporary mental health nursing practices Contribute to quality and service improvement activities to continually develop an innovative contemporary mental health service for young people About you To be successful in this position you will require: A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing) Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost) Benefits Flexible work options Career Development Salary Packaging Modern Facilities Diverse Work Culture Research Opportunities 12.75% super 17.5% leave loading Salary Permanent full time Base salary ranging from $136 538 - $148 242 per annum About Us Inpatient Mental Health provide a safe and supportive environment for consumers with mental illness that is not manageable through community services. The purpose of admission to Inpatient Units is for the treatment of acute mental illnesses, comprehensive assessments or for specific planned therapeutic intervention and offering support, education and reintegration back into the community. Inpatient units include Acute Adult Mental Health Units, Acute Young Adult Services, Lavender Mother and Baby Unit, Orchid Older Persons Mental Health Unit, Extended Treatment Unit and Cordyline Rehabilitation. Pandanus Unit is a 24-bed facility incorporating a 6-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) that is designed to provide individualised, comprehensive, and consumer-focused care for adults experiencing mental illness. The PICU provides a predictable low stimulus and safe environment for up to six consumers requiring high levels of individual care under the Mental Health Act 2016.
