About the opportunity Lead, manage and contribute to the strategic financial management and operational leadership of Finance delivering effective and client focused financial accounting services for the Townsville HHS and its facilities. Provide high level of specialist expert advice to the THHS Executive and Director of Financial Accounting in THHS. Lead, manage, develop, and maintain appropriate reporting systems, policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems to facilitate effective financial management in the THHS. Actively manage and contribute to the improvement of governance processes, internal controls, and systems to enable financial management and service delivery enhancement. The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: Demonstrated ability to provide effective and authoritative specialist advice and recommendations in relation to a financial accounting function within a large multidisciplinary organisation. Expert knowledge of contemporary financial management. Extensive interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills appropriate to a senior role together with advanced change management skills in an environment of constant change. Demonstrated ability to plan, lead and manage a team and achieve desired outcomes within specific deadlines and approved resource allocations. Demonstrated ability to provide advice and recommendations to the senior leadership team and operational staff in relation to financial accounting and administration matters which enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of financial management and contribute to enhanced financial outcomes including ability to understand and comply with legislation, policy and related frameworks. Exposure to risk management frameworks and/or risk matrix protocols, remedies and planning would be an advantage. Ability to produce, implement and review contemporary strategic financial and human resource management principles policies and procedures. Organisational skills, such as the ability to set priorities, co-ordinate activities and meet deadlines in a self-driven, team environment including experience in managing and developing staff and building capability.
