The Opportunity: McArthur is seeking an experienced Coordinator in Financial Accounting to support and provide expertise in a dynamic Finance team. As a proven leader you will help to drive Council strategy and decision-making, by fostering a culture of service excellence, and ensuring accuracy and compliance of all finance related activities. Our client is located two hours west of Melbourne, in a picturesque and diverse municipality that spans plains, hinterland forest and the Great Ocean Road coastline. This is a temporary opportunity, working full-time hours until early May with the possibility of extension. Key responsibilities: Coordinate financial reporting, reconciliations and operations whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and adherence to Council strategy. Contribute to long -term budget development, and Council's 10-year financial plan. Monitor and maintain council inventory, and inventory management processes. Coordinate the annual external audit Manage the preparation and reporting process of BAS, tax and FBT returns. Manage the ongoing monitoring of Council's cash flow requirements, including lodging investments. Manage the maintenance of the Investment Register. Ensure Council borrowings information is maintained and processed using the Loans module. In consultation with Manager Financial Services, establish, develop and maintain systems and procedures used within the Finance unit. Provide coaching to other Finance Staff in their area of responsibility. Selection Criteria: Tertiary qualification in Accounting / Finance or related field. Minimum 5 years of demonstrated financial and/or management accounting experience. Demonstrated experience managing the day-to-day operations of a business unit and proven experience within a multi-disciplinary function. Extensive experience in financial reporting and preparation of financial statements. Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills. Experience in applying technical expertise to solving strategic and operational problems.
