CatholicCare is seeking a Psychiatrist or suitably qualified Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our Multisystemic Therapy – Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN) program. This is a high-impact, part-time clinical role working with children and families experiencing complex and high-risk situations. With just 8 hours per week , this role offers genuine flexibility — work the hours in one full day or spread across the week to meet the needs of our clients, with time included for report writing and consultation. About the Role You’ll provide direct clinical services to families in their homes, partnering closely with MST-CAN therapists to support safe, effective, and evidence-based interventions. This is a collaborative role where your expertise directly shapes treatment planning and outcomes. Your work will include: Psychiatric and mental health assessments Medication reviews and prescribing Clinical consultation with therapists Developing treatment plans implemented by the MST-CAN team and reviewed by you Working with children, adolescents, and adults within the family system Supporting families with complex needs, including child protection involvement This role is community-based and involves working in family homes . Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee the psychiatric care of referred clients within the MST-CAN program for the duration of the 6–9 month treatment period. Provide psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members as required Collaborate closely with the MST-CAN treatment team on diagnoses and treatment planning Consult with external physicians, psychiatrists, and services involved in client care Provide emergency psychiatric evaluations in office or community settings as needed Coordinate psychiatric hospital admissions when required and collaborate with inpatient teams Oversee and coordinate psychopharmacological interventions Maintain thorough clinical documentation, including MST-CAN Psychiatric Consultation Worksheets Support the development, modification, and implementation of safety protocols Work with MST-CAN supervisors and experts to implement evidence-based psychiatric and medication protocols What We’re Looking For You’ll be a confident, collaborative clinician who is comfortable working in complex environments and a multidisciplinary team. Essential: Registration and authority to prescribe medication Ability and willingness to work with children and families Confidence working in family homes and community settings Strong clinical judgement and risk-management skills Preferred Experience: Working with families involved in the child welfare system Experience with child protection and court systems Strong teamwork and collaborative practice Why Join CatholicCare?
