This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring culturally safe care and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families throughout their healthcare journey. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership on cultural safety and culturally safe care Act as a vital link between medical teams and patients/families during admission to ensure understanding and informed decision making about treatment and care Assist upon discharge to ensure patients and families are well supported and understand their future medical care Provide social and emotional support to patients and families Guide and help promote whole of health service celebrations relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural events and significant days Essential Requirements Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Strong communication skills Good availability and flexible approach Ability to write reports to consumer engagement and Board that clearly outlines action plans and progress toward the same Knowledge of issues that impact on the health and wellbeing of people (eg. Social determinants of health including environmental, cultural and community) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander models of health care delivery Ability to act as a liaison to support relationship development between key stakeholders (ie – Aboriginal community leaders and health service leaders). Ability to write reports to consumer engagement and Board that clearly outlines action plans and progress toward the same Current driver’s license Why join us?
