Description Role scope Kent is currently seeking an SMP Supervisor to join our Brisbane Projects Team working on the Ampol Future Fuels Project at Lytton. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working on a cutting-edge project in the energy industryThe SMP Supervisor is responsible for overseeing construction packages of structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) activities on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project. This role requires strong technical expertise in SMP disciplines, excellent leadership skills and the ability to ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards and safety regulations. Your Day to Day: Work to detailed work plans and schedules for SMP activities in coordination with the Superintendent and Construction Manager. Allocate daily tasks to all leading hands/direct reports, keeping close tabs on their productivity, efficiency, attitude and general work standards, whilst adhering to HSSEQ policies and meeting project deadlines. Daily Supervision of a team of SMP craft workers, where you will provide clear instructions, guidance, and support. Ensure that the team is adequately trained and possesses the required skills and certifications to perform their tasks safely and efficiently. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and high performance among the SMP workforce. Conduct regular inspections and reviews of SMP installations to identify and address any quality issues promptly. Promote a strong safety culture and enforce HSE policies and procedures on-site. Provide regular progress reports on allocated construction activities, including updates on schedules and potential risks or delays. About You: Our ideal candidate will hold an Australian-recognised Trade Certificate in a relevant discipline such as Welding, Pipefitting, Boilermaking or Mechanical Fitting, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising SMP construction on EPC projects within the Oil and Gas industry. You will have hands-on experience with piping, pressure vessels, structural steel, module and rotating equipment erection in both Brownfield and Greenfield environments, ideally including work on live hydrocarbon process plants. Strong planning, coordination, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proficiency in reading engineering drawings and a solid understanding of HSE regulations. Competency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is also required.
