Oversight of the office operations in the Office of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor Coordinate process improvement to enhance divisional performance Full time, fixed term position for 12 months based in Hobart About the opportunity The Interim Operations Manager, Division of the Vice-Chancellor plays a key role within the Office of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor (OCVC), leading the business operations of the Division of the Vice-Chancellor (DVC). The Interim Operations Manager covers a 12- month period of parental leave and is a great opportunity to gain experience in a range of business operations relating to executive support, governance support, stakeholder management and process improvement. All of this in a high performance, fast paced environment. The Interim Operations Manager will work closely with the Divisional Leadership Team in the provision of high-level operational management and strategic advice across budgets, priorities, and projects. The role is responsible for the delivery effective business operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, and enhancing divisional performance. Operating with professionalism, discretion, and initiative, this role ensures responsive and efficient support in a dynamic and complex environment. What you’ll do: Lead the end-to-end design, delivery and review of OCVC operational programs ensuring objectives, timelines, resourcing, risk controls and benefits are defined and realised. Translate the Division’s strategy into executable annual and quarterly delivery plans, with measurable KPIs and clear accountabilities across OCVC and contributing service partners. Ensure efficient, high quality executive operations across the OCVC, including workflow orchestration, executive correspondence and briefings, diaries/calendars, and governance support services, with fit for purpose SOPs and service standards. Establish and maintain robust operational controls and business continuity/emergency arrangements appropriate to an executive office environment. Draft correspondence and other documents in support of the Vice-Chancellor and other senior executives. What we’re looking for: A degree with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience in complex executive/operational leadership contexts. Demonstrated success leading a multi function operations team and/or matrixed contributors to deliver executive level services and programs at scale. Proven capability in budget ownership, resource planning, procurement/contract management, event management, and performance reporting. Strong policy, governance and risk acumen with the ability to develop, implement and embed operational policies/frameworks in a highly visible environment. Advanced stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills with the credibility to represent the Division in high level forums and negotiate outcomes across multiple portfolios while maintaining successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement and change with measurable benefits (service, quality, risk, cost). Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152,033 comprising base salary within the range of $114,282 to $129,943 plus 17% superannuation.
