About this Role We are seeking an experienced nursing professional for the position of Head of Nursing Services P-12. As a leadership position this role oversees the health needs of day and boarding students; and ensures the provision of safe, evidence-based nursing care, within a holistic framework integrating medical care, emotional wellbeing, and education. The position holder will work during each school term, and within our Ascham Health Centre which is open from 7.30am to 4.30pm. What You Need to Do to Succeed Manage the School’s Health Centre including staff supervision, roster coordination, budget and systems Lead and support a team of school nurses, and encourage them to participate in the life of the School Ensure the health needs of day / boarding students and staff are addressed promptly and effectively Offer timely and effective responses to medical incidents and emergencies Know each student and help them foster qualities of self-discipline, independence, and responsibility Address student health concerns including chronic condition support, menstrual health, medication education, preventative health education and mental health and wellbeing Facilitate immunisation programs in collaboration with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District What You Bring Bachelor of Nursing degree Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as a Registered Nurse Current certificates in CPR, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid as well as a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Driver’s Licence Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles and reporting requirements Clinical experience of at least 3 years and preferably in school, paediatric, or adolescent health settings Experience in providing comprehensive health care to school-aged children and adolescents, support them with chronic or acute health needs, and manage school immunisation programs Ability to lead a team of school nurses and apply sound clinical judgement and decision-making in complex or unexpected situations Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to engage confidently and empathetically with students, parents, staff, and external health professionals Experience in delivering staff education and training A professional / organised approach with well-developed time management skills Competence with electronic medical records, databases and Microsoft Office programs Willingness to participate in the Health Centre on-call roster, and flexibility to attend school camps, excursions, and events outside of normal working hours in a professional nursing capacity.
