Whitlam School is located in the Molonglo Valley of Canberra. The new school will cater for up to 780 students from preschool to Year six to accommodate the growing number of families in the region. The school is expected to open in 2027 with its first primary school cohort; the starting year levels will be announced in early 2026. Planning for the Early Childhood Education and Care Centre (ECEC) is underway and will be developed in a future stage, providing 130 places for children from birth to preschool. The school will be built in a central location within the suburb, strategically positioned to provide easy access for students and families. The Suburban Land Agency has commenced work to enhance the surrounding areas, further improving access to the school site and other community facilities. This modern, sustainable facility will be an inclusive space designed to support all students. The design will include flexible spaces that foster student development and learning, including high‑quality general and specialist learning environments that incorporate both indoor and outdoor areas. Integrated spaces will also be provided to support students with diverse learning needs. Spaces for community hire and use will be available and positioned for ease of access. Facilities will include a double gymnasium with basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball and badminton court markings; one covered hard court and one uncovered hard court suitable for basketball and netball; a playing field for ball sports; and external play equipment. The appointed Principal will lead the operational and strategic direction taking advantage of the new building and opportunities for innovation. Eligibility/Other requirements: Prior to commencing this role: A minimum of four years full time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification. A current full teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute ( TQI ) (or eligibility for teacher registration with the ACT TQI) A current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
