Role Title: Commercial and Contract Manager Role Description: We are seeking an experienced Defence Commercial and Contracts Manager to support our maritime customer within a complex and high tempo Defence environment. This pivotal role is responsible for the end to end management of commercial activities and contract performance across multiple Defence projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in Commercial Contract Management, Contract Administration, Defence Contracting and Procurement; with a proven ability to navigate the ASDEFCON contract suit and Defence processes. This position requires strong analytical skills, a detail-oriented approach and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy, compliance and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities: The Defence Commercial and Contracts Manager will be responsible for delivering the following core outputs: - Develop and maintain Contract Management Plans, ensuring alignment with project objectives and Defence policies. - Conduct contract performance reviews, identifying risks, issues and improvement opportunities. - Coordinate, review and assess supplier deliverables to ensure contractual and technical compliance. - Complete, review and endorse key commercial documentation including procurement artefacts, commercial letters, contractual notices and evaluation reports. - Develop and manage commercial, contract and procurement strategies/documentation in accordance with Defence policies and ASDEFCON requirements. - Draft and develop Noting and Decision Briefs to support governance and approval processes. - Engage effectively with internal Defence stakeholders, industry partners and senior leadership to support project outcomes. - Provide specialist commercial and procurement advice to project teams and decision makers. - Support Phase In and Phase Out activities, ensuring seamless contract transitions. - Deliver training to Defence personnel on procurement methodologies, contracting options, and tender development processes. Essential Requirements: To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate: - Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business, Finance, Procurement, or a related discipline. - Prior and demonstrated experience with ASDEFCON and Defence procurement processes. - A minimum of 8 years' commercial experience within the Defence sector. - Strong commercial acumen and the ability to operate within complex organisational structures. - High level communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. - Hold an active NV1 Security Clearance. Must be an Australian citizen and cannot be a former citizen or permanent resident of a prescribed nation.
