The Opportunity An established and growing manufacturing/FMCG business is seeking a commercially minded Accountant to support the CFO and help free up leadership capacity across the finance function. This role is ideal for a well-rounded Accountant with strong costing experience who is ready to step into a broader, more influential position, with a clear pathway to Finance Manager over time. You will take ownership of core accounting responsibilities while developing a deep understanding of product costing, margins, and operational drivers—playing a key role in the business’s continued growth. Salary from $90k super, depending on experience Career development with a pathway to Finance Manager Role split across Melbourne CBD and Tullamarine offices Availability to work from home one day per week Direct line to CFO The Role Working closely with the CFO, you will be responsible for end-to-end accounting and costing activities, while also contributing to process improvement and commercial decision-making. Key responsibilities include: Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting Product and inventory costing, margin analysis, and variance analysis Accounts payable and receivable oversight Bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring, and balance sheet integrity Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Assisting with tax compliance, audits, and statutory reporting Reviewing and improving financial controls and processes Acting as a key finance partner to operations and senior stakeholders About You Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance CPA or CA qualified (or working towards) Proven experience in a broad accounting role within manufacturing, FMCG, or a cost-driven environment Strong understanding of costing, inventory, and margin analysis Comfortable operating autonomously and “hitting the ground running” Experience using accounting systems such as MYOB, Xero, or similar Strong Excel capability and analytical mindset Clear communicator with the confidence to engage across the business Why Apply?
