ELS is the newest division at Pearson with ambitious and exciting plans for growth About the role: ?you will play a key role in building, monitoring, maintaining and hardening the internal platforms that our Product Development and AI&Analytics teams build on top of across multiple geographic regions. You will also have opportunities to work alongside AI and Backend Engineers to implement our product roadmap. At the same time, you will work with various Pearson teams globally to solve engineering challenges with automated, scalable, robust and secure solutions to shape the engineering best practises. To give you a sense of our work, we have designed and implemented systems like: As a ? Cloud Engineer, ? you'll be responsible for:? Strengthen scalability, robustness, observability and security of multi-cloud platform services such as CICD, Kubernetes, API Gateway, Auth services, Databricks and CubeJs and internal tools. Build and Enhance platform services to enable engineering teams at scale. Stay abreast of changes in technologies, implementing fit for purpose solutions. Documenting?and sharing solutions?across Pearson technical group. Collaborate with product managers, product designers, security, other engineers to provide deep experience in technical implementation. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: ? ? Essential Skills: 2-3 years' experience working in Platform Engineering, SRE or similar in a modern enterprise public cloud environment (AWS or Azure). You should be comfortable dealing with microservices and using various DevSecOps tools. Proficiency building and operating Kubernetes clusters with AWS EKS in production. Solid experience with Terraform to deploy infrastructure as code for multiple regions. Ability to handle uncertainty and priorities and adapt to changes. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and learning. Ability to apply emerging technologies to build platform solutions. Desirable Skills: Hands-on experienced in Databricks, API Gateway, Datadog, ArgoCD, or Auth0 Developed cloud-scale solutions with a high-level programming language like Typescript, Python or Go.
