About the Role We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our finance team and support the organisation’s financial accounting, statutory reporting, and advisory functions. The role involves preparing and analysing financial information, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and taxation requirements, and providing financial insights to support informed business decision-making. This position is suited to a professional accountant working in a compliance-driven environment within the disability and healthcare sector. Key Tasks & Responsibilities Prepare, review, and analyse monthly and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards Maintain and oversee the general ledger to ensure accurate financial classification, data integrity, and reliable financial reporting Perform balance sheet, bank, and other financial reconciliations to support accurate and timely reporting Analyse financial performance, including budget variance and trend analysis, and prepare management reports for internal stakeholders Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) in compliance with ATO requirements, and calculate taxation information for review and lodgement by registered tax agents Ensure compliance with Australian taxation legislation, accounting standards, and financial reporting obligations applicable to organisations operating in the disability and healthcare sector, including NDIS-related financial reporting requirements Maintain financial records, supporting documentation, and audit trails to support internal controls and external audit processes Monitor and review accounting policies, procedures, and internal financial control frameworks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance Identify financial and accounting risks and provide recommendations to mitigate compliance and reporting issues Provide financial analysis and accounting advice to Directors and senior management to support operational and strategic decision-making Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support organisational performance and sustainability Qualifications & Experience: Essential Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian taxation legislation Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, compliance, and management accounting Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability Desirable At least one year of full-time experience in related role Familiarity with NDIS financial compliance frameworks Experience using Xero or similar accounting systems Benefits Competitive salary package $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation Secure, full-time permanent role Exposure to governance, compliance, and advisory accounting work Supportive and professional working environment Career development and progression opportunities Opportunity to work in a purpose-driven organisation supporting disability and healthcare services
