With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Anatomical Pathologists to join the Anatomical Pathology department.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  The Anatomical Pathology Unit is situated in a purpose-built dynamic Laboratory in Epping, providing an evolving service to Northern hospital, its campuses and surrounds. The service consists of Histopathology, Cytopathology Immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and Mortuary.  A broad range of diagnostic histology and non-gynaecological cytology specimens will be processed in the unit.  About the Role: This role requires Provide diagnostic services in all aspects of anatomical pathology including histopathology, frozen sections and cytopathology Offer expert opinion to clinicians as to the choice, handling and processing of specimens to yield relevant diagnostic information Ensure the provision of a timely efficient diagnostic and consultative service Take professional care and assume responsibility and accountability for patientsâ specimens referred to the laboratory and for reports issued by the service Produce pathology reports to a high standard, ensuring reporting is completed within acceptable time frames Foster rapport and good communication using appropriate language, written or verbal, with clinicians, patients and other parties as required Liaise with clinicians to ensure they are aware of the limitations of biopsy, cytology and autopsy preparations in the interpretation of results and clinicopathological correlations Adhere to the protocols, guidelines and practice standards pertaining to diagnostic and clinical practice Keep abreast of new diagnostic and clinical developments as they relate to pathology services As a representative of the Hospital and the Medical Profession, present an appearance and demeanour of professionalism at all times Participate in the pathologist on-call roster and after hoursâ service Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings  This role is responsible for Providing diagnostic and consultative services in Anatomical Pathology including the review and reporting of histopathology, frozen section and cytopathology. Maintain the professional standards of the discipline of Anatomical Pathology and achieving high standards of clinical practice and agreed quality . Assist in the provision of teaching of pathology to trainees in Anatomical Pathology, junior medical staff and students in the University medical curriculum.  To be successful in this role you will have: Essential Appointee must be a legally qualified practitioner, registered with the AHPRA Medical Board of Australia Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or equivalent) in Anatomical Pathology.  Next Steps . . .
