Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery. Population health promotes programs and initiates capacity building to members of priority populations on priority issues. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Health Promotion Officer to join our team with a strong focus on tobacco and vaping prevention and youth health. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to improving health outcomes for young people and reducing the impact of tobacco and e-cigarette use through evidence based, community led approaches. The Health Promotion Officer will plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives that support young people to make informed, healthy choices. Working across a range of settings, the role will contribute to the delivery of programs that address tobacco and vaping use, particularly among adolescents and young adults. The position requires a strong understanding of the social and environmental factors that influence youth behaviour and the ability to translate public health evidence into practical, engaging strategies. In this role, you will work collaboratively with youth services, education providers, Aboriginal and multicultural communities, and internal stakeholders to co-design and deliver initiatives that are inclusive, culturally safe and responsive to local needs. You will also contribute to policy development, workforce capacity building and advocacy efforts aimed at reducing tobacco and vaping‑related harm. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves developing health promotion resources, facilitating workshops and representing the organisation in partnerships and community forums. The successful applicant will bring experience in health promotion, public health or a related discipline, along with a demonstrated interest in youth health and substance use prevention. You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with the ability to manage projects, evaluate outcomes and adapt initiatives in a rapidly changing public health environment. What You Will Bring To The Role Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as health promotion, population health, or education and/or equivalent demonstrated experience. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience of health promotion theory and evidence-based application including needs analysis, project planning, implementation and evaluating health promotion initiatives. Demonstrated ability to write high level and quality reports and other written communication for a variety of audiences. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community, government and non-government organisations to achieve outcomes in health promotion. Demonstrated ability and experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based community education projects, including experience in developing and facilitating group work. Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team across multiple projects with the ability to apply effective interpersonal and negotiation skills. Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills. Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
