What you'll do Perform general laboratory duties including receipt and registration of specimens, preparation of microbiology samples, and referral of specimens to other laboratories. Collect high-quality blood and non-blood specimens while performing phlebotomy duties. Adhere to Pathology Queensland patient identification, labelling, collection and processing policies at all times. Maintain the laboratory environment, including cleaning and restocking consumables. Prioritise tasks to meet service delivery deadlines. Respond to client enquiries and instructions using effective communication skills. Seek advice or approval from supervisory staff regarding changes to work practices. About you We are searching for someone who has: Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen collection/phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision. Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens. Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of preanalytical processing of specimens for laboratory analysis. Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues.
