C++ Software Engineer - Mid level Cadence Connect has been exclusively retained to source a passionate and astute, mid-level C++ Software Engineer for their Brisbane-based technology client, delivering high-performance, critical software platforms that are deployed globally. You will join a collaborative engineering team working on complex systems that operate in regulated environments, where software quality, performance, and reliability are non-negotiable. This role is ideal for developers who enjoy working close to hardware, solving technically demanding problems, and seeing their code run in real-world production environments at scale. What will you be doing? You will contribute and execute across the full software development lifecycle, working on a proprietary backend platform that includes: Low-level hardware interfaces Database driven configuration systems Real-time accounting and transaction processing Inter-process communication (IPC) User and operator centric usability applications Integration with third party monitoring and management platforms Additionally, you will work amidst modern engineering practices including Agile delivery, CI pipelines, code reviews, and automated testing. What you will need to bring Strong commercial experience with C++ (other OO languages considered) Experience developing software that interfaces closely with hardware Tertiary qualification in Computing or equivalent industry experience Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset Full working rights and ability to work on-site in Brisbane Desirables Debugging complex systems (crash dumps, log analysis) Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, sockets, HTTP/HTTPS) Performance optimisation (CPU, memory, I/O) SQLite, MySQL, or similar relational databases Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash) Git or other distributed version control systems Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) The environment You will be joining a close-knit, highly technical team based in Brisbane, with flexible working hours, a strong focus on collaboration, and a culture that values technical excellence and continuous learning.
