Description Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. We are seeking highly experienced professionals to support critical projects within Joint. The Strategic High Frequency Communications (SHFC) Program is responsible for the provision of the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS). What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Conduct comprehensive cyber and information security risk assessments , business impact analyses, and control evaluations across SHFC systems, integrating threat intelligence to drive effective risk management. Develop, review, and advise on security standards, guidance, accreditation documentation , and program‑specific security frameworks, ensuring alignment with Defence security requirements. Lead incident response and investigation activities , providing recommendations for corrective actions and policy amendments in accordance with Defence procedures. Support accreditation activities by coordinating with primes and key stakeholders, ensuring supplier compliance with DISP, contracted security obligations, and incident‑responsibility requirements. Strengthen SHFC security governance by improving processes, policies, and assurance practices , communicating complex risks to leadership, and ensuring alignment between security assessments, engineering assurance, sustainment, and Defence safety requirements. What You’ll Bring Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Security, Computer Science/Engineering , or equivalent professional experience, and one of any of the following: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA . Demonstrated experience in cyber security risk assessment and control evaluation , with the ability to apply Defence cyber and information security policy frameworks effectively. Experience leading or coordinating incident response and investigations , applying structured processes aligned with Defence requirements. Ability to interpret and integrate cyber threat intelligence to inform program risk posture and guide security decision‑making. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex security issues clearly to diverse stakeholders. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum NV1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
