Your New Role: Council is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Waste Services Operator to join Council’s team, performing daily operations out of the Kempsey Landfill Management Centre and other Waste Management Facilities or Operations within the Kempsey Shire. As a Waste Services Operator, you will be required to work as part of a team, interacting with contractors, customers, and the public while ensuring the landfill operates in accordance with legislative, environmental and workplace safety requirements. Key Accountabilities include: Operating plant and equipment such as landfill compactors, excavators, front-end loaders, and other mobile machinery Identifying waste types and waste streams and removing unsuitable waste from designated waste streams. Providing education and direction to customers in relation to load separation. Undertaking all daily administrative tasks, banking reconciliation and associated reporting for all financial transactions. Participate in a six-week rotating roster. About You: You are practical, dependable and committed to working safely in an outdoor operational environment. You work well in a team and are comfortable dealing with members of the public. Essential Requirements: General Construction Induction Card (White Card); Current class C Drivers Licence (HR Licence preferred); Current Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B immunisations or willingness to obtain Desirable Requirements: Certificate III in Waste Management or willingness to obtain RII - Conduct civil construction excavator operations RII – Conduct Civil Construction Wheeled Front End Loader Operations RII - Conduct self-propelled compactor operations You will have demonstrated work experience in the use of major and minor plant items (as outlined above); demonstrated work experience in undertaking broad-based administrative tasks; literacy and numeracy skills to meet the requirements of the position including ability to use computers and mobile devices; and excellent customer service skills to handle diverse and sometimes difficult customers.
