About the Role: NEMA is looking to fill the First Assistant Coordinator-General Programs, with a high calibre senior executive who will accept the challenges associated with operating in a high tempo small agency. The role is fast-paced, complex and dynamic, and presents a key opportunity to ensure the Agency is effective, responsive, sustainable and evidence-informed in its program design and delivery. The First Assistant Coordinator-General Programs works to enable NEMA through the Disaster Resilience and Recovery Group to: Lead national disaster recovery, hazard mitigation and resilience programs and investments. Lead and oversee program administration, including overseeing all aspects of program activation, guideline development, eligibility issues, application assessment, funding reallocations, and other program administration issues as appropriate. Work in partnership with states/territories and other stakeholders to progress and deliver administered programs and projects. Ensure NEMA's program investment is aligned with policy and targeted using analytics where possible. Support the work of the agency portfolio reporting, assurance and evaluation functions in monitoring and evaluating portfolio investment across all programs. Liaise effectively with operational crisis areas in NEMA in the activation of recovery assistance in an eligible disaster event. Have the ability to obtain, and maintain, a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) level AGSVA security clearance, and AFP Employee suitability clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
