With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Spinal Consultants/Neurosurgeons to join the Division of Surgery.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role:  The Consultant provides clinical leadership to their Unit in their own right. The Consultant is a pro-active and valued participant and contributor in Unit and Divisional activities. The Consultant is required to maintain their standards of clinical practice, to participate in Northern Healthâs standards of practice and to align themselves with the vision, mission and commitment statements of Northern Health.  This position is responsible but not limited to: Spinal back pain clinic â outpatient services and provide support and advice to Advanced practice physiotherapist Provide management advice for Northern Health inpatients Provide management advice for patients attending Emergency department Provide teaching to Northern Health Junior medical staff. Facilitate transfer of patients under the Spinal MOU with Austin Health. Contribute to developing a Spinal Surgical Service at Northern Health Engage, as needed, with clinical units providing care for Spinal conditions at Northern Health  To be successful in this role you will have: Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Undergraduate medical qualification as a first degree is essential â MBBS, MD, PhD or equivalent Appropriate specialty qualifications such as Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery/ Neurosurgery) or equivalent is essential â (FRACS) Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care Demonstrated leadership skills in the area of their expertise Demonstrated clinical skills in the area of their expertise  Next Steps  If this opportunity sounds like the next step in your career, then we would love to hear from you.
