Full time ongoing position (part-time considered) Salary range: $113,668 - $131,153 (pro rata) plus super Up to $15,900 in salary packaging, flexible hybrid work arrangement Relocation supports available About the role Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our Mildura office, delivering high-quality legal services to clients across the Mallee region. This role focuses on complex criminal law and family violence matters, providing expert advocacy, advice and representation, and contributing to leadership, supervision and strategic work within the office. You will appear regularly in the Magistrates' and Children's Courts of Victoria, manage complex casework, and support improvement of criminal law services in a regional context. Relocation support may be available for suitable applicants moving to Mildura. Mildura offers affordable housing, a strong community and access to the Murray River and surrounding parks. About you As our ideal candidate, you will possess: A current unrestricted Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory). Significant experience in complex criminal law and family violence matters, including advocacy and representation. Advanced legal technical expertise and sound professional judgement. Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and support lawyers and senior lawyers. Strong communication skills and a client-centred approach to practice.
