Your Employer Our client, a well-established free-range egg production farm in regional Queensland, is seeking an experienced Poultry Farmer for the management and supervision of poultry operations. The business is committed to animal welfare and efficient production of high-quality, hygienic eggs to meet growing demand. Your Role As a Poultry Farmer, you will play a key role in the breeding, health management, welfare, and production performance of poultry livestock. You will be responsible and accountable for the supervision, management, planning, organisation, controlling, coordination and performance of poultry farming operations, including the welfare and health of domestic poultry, through various production systems, to ensure the consistent and efficient production of high quality and hygienic eggs for market and sale. Key Responsibilities Achieve poultry farm production goals through careful planning and management of human resources, physical resources, safety requirements, consumables. Plan production schedules and address operational challenges. Oversee daily farm operations including feeding, watering, housing, and monitoring of poultry to ensure health and productivity. Oversee breeding and flock health and nutritional programs, including vaccinations and inspections. Inspect poultry for diseases and remove weak, ill, dead poultry and when required conduct post mortem examinations of deceased poultry and report findings; Supervise and train farm workers in poultry handling, biosecurity procedures, and welfare standards. Monitor environmental conditions within sheds and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene practices. Ensure the farm operates within the planned budget and make a concerted effort to reduce expenses and proactively report variances or unexpected cost incursions. Supervise pest control, cleaning routines, and shed maintenance to maintain farm biosecurity. Collect, record, and report production data including flock health, egg counts, feed consumption, and mortality. Ensure all farm assets and equipment are maintained in accordance with company standards. Comply with workplace health and safety and environmental requirements. Skills & Experience Relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture, animal science, or related field (or 5 years of relevant poultry farming experience). Sound understanding of poultry husbandry, biosecurity, and welfare principles. Ability to supervise and motivate team members, including workers from culturally diverse backgrounds. Experience working in intensive animal production systems (poultry or similar). Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. Salary & Benefits Annual salary of $73,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation.
