About the Role: The Community Education Counsellor (Identified) is part of the school's Wellbeing Team, which also includes Behaviour Management Teachers, Youth Support Coordinators, Chaplain and supporting Teacher Aides. Collectively, this team supports and nurtures all students' wellbeing and engagement. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Provide educational counselling and support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander girls and boys. Participate in the development of activities to enhance the involvement in education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and boys and their families to encourage participation in school and maximise student results. Develop and undertake support service programs designed to meet the needs of the school that will encourage the educational participation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander girls and boys Participate in activities to develop productive partnerships between members of the school community Ensure that relevant information concerning Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural issues is readily available to all members of the school community. About You: Strong and empathetic communicator, with excellent relational skills. Solution-focussed, with the ability to develop strategies to best support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander girls and boys.
