About the opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Advanced Clinical Coder to join the Clinical Coding team at Townsville Hospital and Health Service. The Advanced Clinical Coder is acknowledged as having excellent clinical coding skills and extensive knowledge across a broad range of specialties. The purpose of this role is to conduct quality activities for the Clinical Coding Unit through auditing, data analysis and clinician liaison to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of coded data; and to develop, coordinate and implement education programmes to continuously improve skills of clinical coders and to produce high quality coded data. About the service Clinical Information Services is responsible for the management of clinical information across Townsville Hospital and Health Service. Areas of responsibility include Clinical Coding, Medical Records, Release of Information, Data Quality, 7 Day Service, Information Management and Information Privacy. Clinical Coding Unit is responsible for coding all inpatient separations for all hospitals within Townsville Hospital and Health Service. Coded data is used for multiple purposes within Townsville Hospital and Health Service, Queensland Health and nationally, including business intelligence, clinical research, health services evaluation and planning, quality and safety monitoring, funding and resource allocation, epidemiology and education of health professionals.
