Description About the role As a site-based Health Management Advisor supporting Townsville Logistics, Townsville Marine Logistics and Ark Energy, you will provide timely and competent support and advice around injuries, illness and rehabilitation in addition to supporting the business through proactive health and wellbeing strategies, awareness and campaigns. You will be responsible for: Provide acute injury triage, including the immediate assessment of workplace injuries, determining the severity and urgency of the condition, providing advice on first aid or initial treatment where appropriate, and making timely referrals to external medical providers if further care is required. Providing advice to employees and leaders on treatment and injury management to minimise the effects of injuries and to enable effective rehabilitation and early return to work. Encourage an improved level of awareness among employees and contractors on health issues and healthy lifestyle options. Provide quality health and wellbeing training, support and resources to promote line management effectiveness in performing their functions. Review medical and pre-employment assessments to evaluate the health and fitness of potential employees. Liaise with treating practitioners to achieve positive outcomes for treatment and rehabilitation and return to work for company and employee. Delivering training to leaders which imparts skills and knowledge of injury treatment and management practices and procedures. Advise management of current health and wellbeing trends, issues and potential impacts of industry practices and legislative change and recommend strategies to address trends. Input data, analyse and provide timely and accurate statistical reports and information for the business to assist with management of health and wellbeing, and external regulators to meet legislative requirements. Manage Workers’ Compensation cases. Identify, develop, implement and continuously review effectiveness of injury prevention strategies, practices and procedure. Coordinate the periodical medical processes including biological monitoring. Coordinate onsite health surveillance programs including blood pathology assessments and audiometric testing. Review and maintain medical records and documentation for employees and contractors ensuring compliance to our site procedures. Communicate changes to procedures, practices or products to management and employees as required. Attend safety meetings, forums and regular shift safety meetings. Where practical attend hospital, medical centres or allied health professional’s rooms with injured or ill employees for initial assessment, treatments or follow up consultations. As the custodian of the Health Management Document library, ensure documents are regularly reviewed, changes discussed with the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent, updated and communicated to leaders and employees. Skills And Experiences About You This role would suit a motivated health professional looking for an opportunity to support and educate people in operational health and wellbeing. You will have: Qualifications in, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Exercise Physiology or a related field with minimum 2 years’ experience. Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency A working knowledge of Injury Management and Rehabilitation practices and procedures At least 3 years working in a similar capacity (Desirable) Current & Valid C class manual Driver’s Licence Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (Desirable) Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with ability to build rapport and constructive relationships at all levels of the organisation.
