The Opportunity The Children’s Diabetes Centre of The Kids Research Institute, together with the Diabetes Service of Perth Children’s Hospital, is an integrated research and clinical centre. The key focus of our work is to improve the health of children, adolescents and young people living with type 1 diabetes and we have an exciting opportunity for a Community Involvement Coordinator to join our team. You will work closely with the Centre researchers and the local and national T1D community to embed community involvement at all levels of the Centres research activities and to build meaningful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. This position will undertake duties, such as: Co-ordinate the Type 1 diabetes Consumer Advisory Group meetings Support involvement of Community members in Centre research projects, working groups and programs Assist with planning and delivery of consumer and community events Develop and update Community Involvement plans, policies and supporting materials Work closely with the Community Involvement Team at the Kids Research Institute to support Institute-wide initiatives. Based in Nedlands, this role will be offered as a part-position (0.5 FTE) for 12 months in the first instance. About You The ideal candidate will have lived experience with type 1 diabetes, a strong interest in research, coupled with great people skills. The key to your success will be your demonstrated skills and experience in: Tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience in community relations, communication, marketing or a related discipline. Knowledge and understanding of the principles of consumer and community involvement Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders Experience in development and delivery of communication plans or community involvement plans Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating events Good organisation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience working in a not‐for‐profit or similar setting At The Kids Research Institute Australia, we are committed to building a workplace culture that reflects the communities we serve.
