About the business Australian, family-owned food manufacturer based in Caboolture, supplying high-quality ready‑to‑eat products to cafés, petrol & convenience and foodservice nationally. The opportunity Seeking an experienced Packaging Technologist to own a clear packaging challenge: developing packaging for frozen, heat‑and‑eat products that can be hot‑held in pie warmers in petrol and convenience stores, with extended shelf life, strong shelf appeal and, ideally, better sustainability. Most work can be done remotely, with occasional visits to Caboolture. Key responsibilities Lead packaging development for frozen products that are thawed, heated and hot‑held in pie machines / hot cabinets Recommend heat‑resistant films and packaging formats that extend hot‑hold shelf life beyond 4 hours Balance food safety, shelf life, quality and appearance during hot holding Propose recyclable / more sustainable options where practical Review older packaging equipment and define realistic solutions (and any low‑capex improvements) Identify and liaise with suppliers; coordinate packaging trials and testing Essential: Degree in Packaging Technology, Food Technology, Food Science, Materials Science, Engineering or similar Proven experience as a Packaging Technologist in FMCG / food manufacturing Ideally, hands‑on work with heat‑resistant films, trays or flexible packaging for heat‑and‑eat or hot‑held products Self‑directed, comfortable in a consulting / project‑based role Registered for an ABN, or willing to obtain an ABN (strong preference) Engagement & time commitment Initial engagement for a single packaging project, up to 6 months' commitment Up to 10 hours per week, varying by project phase Strong intent for ongoing ad‑hoc consulting if the project and fit are successful Remote working options with occasional site visits If this sounds like your kind of challenge, feel free to send your CV to me at murrayw@harrisonbarratt.com.au
