Role Highlights Reporting to the Harbour Master, the role supports the safe and efficient conduct of port marine operations including continual improvements processes, vessel vetting, hydrography, meteorological and dredging support, marine emergency management and marine incident investigations. The role provides management and provision of leadership for the Vessel Traffic Services Team (including all AMSA Instrument of Authority compliance) and for the Small Craft Services Team (including all regulatory compliance), as delegated. Key duties include but are not limited to: Manage safety and efficiency of commercial shipping within Fremantle Port limits, including scheduling and berth allocation with Inner and Outer harbour teams. Perform statutory responsibilities of Harbour Master’s delegate as provided for in the WA Port Authorities Act, when delegated to do so. Manage and implement the requirements of the Operational Parameters document and other marine safety criteria for vessels and moorings. Emergency Preparedness, Response and Management during Marine incidents and management of Fremantle Ports Oil spill equipment (member of the Incident Management Team). Vessel Pre-arrival vetting processes including day-to-day rostered support and timely marine incident investigations. Security related duties and oversight as Deputy Port Security Officer and Deputy Port Facility Security Officer as per requirements of MTOFSA. Liaison with Marine contractors, service providers and stakeholders as delegated by the Harbour Master. Provide support for the Ports hydrographic survey programme and Meteorological services, including dredging activities. What Makes You a Great Fit Master Class 1 or equivalent marine qualifications. Minimum 1-year Senior officer rank experience onboard internationally trading merchant vessels. Minimum 2 years of experience in a marine operational management shore-based role or similar. Knowledge of WA Port Authority Act and Regulations. Knowledge of international and commonwealth shipping regulations. Well-developed leadership qualities and people management skills.
