PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: As part of the M365 team you will be required to develop and implement cloud solutions on the Microsoft 365 platform as well as for existing on premises business systems and enterprise applications used by the ACT Government directorates, with a focus on Exchange Online and Exchange Server. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365, providing expert advice by: Reviewing and evaluating Conceptual Designs Creating Conceptual Designs for Digital Canberra Providing strategic technical guidance to technical staff, project teams, and senior stakeholders Ensuring solutions align with ACT Government standards Use PowerShell scripting to support, automate, and manage Microsoft 365 and Exchange environments. Provide technical leadership on large and complex Microsoft 365 projects, including planning and delivering migrations of M365 services from external domains into the ACT Government environment. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure services meet required standards, including preparing, reviewing, and maintaining clear and comprehensive technical documentation. You may be required to participate in an after-hours on-call roster and does not involve direct supervision of staff. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Online, Exchange Online Protection (EOP), and Exchange Server 2016 or later. Practical skills using PowerShell to manage Exchange, Exchange Online, and Windows environments. Solid experience across the Microsoft 365 platform, including Teams and OneDrive. Experience managing Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, including maintaining App Registrations and applying least-privilege access. Good understanding of mail routing and SMTP gateway technologies. Experience working with Windows Server 2012 and later. Strong knowledge of email security and encryption, including TLS, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. Proven experience supporting complex, highly available Microsoft Exchange environments, including hybrid setups with complex mail routing. Hands-on experience with email migrations, including on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online, using native and third-party migration tools. Strong capability in supporting and maintaining Azure Active Directory, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 groups. An NV1 security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is required. Experience with BitTitan MigrationWiz, DeploymentPro, and Enterprise Recon is highly desirable. Knowledge of the ITIL framework, or completion of the ITIL Foundation Certificate, is advantageous.
