POSITION SUMMARY The Catering Assistant has a key role in the MDAS in-house catering program, and community Café servicing all MDAS Mildura sites. As MDAS has a variety of meetings, training courses, events and programs that require catering on a daily basis, the role of Catering Assistant was created to support this function. and within the requirements of any relevant Health Promotion programs and partnerships entered into. Key Responsibilities • Prepare food as per organisation catering requests within the required timeframes. • Comply with dietary restrictions and modified diets of staff and visitors and record temperatures of food as required • Prepare and presents food for catering purposes to comply with standards outlined in Food Safety Plan and Kosher standards • Prepare and serve coffee and other hot beverages for sale • Assist in the preparation of food for community events/functions as required • Other kitchen and service duties within capabilities as required • Customer Service and point of sale • Table service of meals • Maintain clean and tidy dining/kitchen areas, including sweeping and mopping floors and the cleaning and sanitizing of equipment. • Wash dishes and equipment; maintains clean work benches and ensures equipment is stored appropriately and easy to access • Adhere to all requirements of Food Safety Program • Foster and maintain relationships with other agencies to benefit clients and the organisation. • Attend appropriate meetings and forums and participate in education programs to ensure the latest developments, research and treatment models are integrated into Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) practice. • Work collaboratively with internal partners to ensure streamlined intake, assessment, and referral processes. • Support values that respect historical and contemporary Aboriginal cultures so that Aboriginal people are recognised as having a special connection with the State. • Complies with relevant Quality Risk and Occupational Health and Safety laws, standards, safe work practices, policies and procedures and attend to all improvements & training opportunities. • Actively monitor and improve the quality and safety of care and services. • Assist with and support any internal or external audit processes. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Food Preparation Beverage Preparation Teamwork Minimum 3 years’ Experience with food preparation Minimum 3 years’ Experience in making barista coffee & Customer Service Experience working in a dynamic and diverse workplace Catering Assistant (Casual) Respect Cultural Diversity Qualification/s: Other Screening Requirements: Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services. Food Handlers Certificate A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia. A current Employee Working with Children Check card. A current National Police Check. COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster information or a valid medical exemption.
