The City of Prospect is undertaking a number of strategic initiatives including its Prospect Lifestyle Precinct, and this role is critical to its longer-term progress. Council is seeking an independent member for their Audit & Risk Committee. It operates a diverse business portfolio to meet the needs of their community, whilst complying with state and federal legislative requirements. The Audit & Risk Committee operates under Section 126 of the Local Government Act 1999. The Committee’s role is to oversee and monitor the effectiveness of Council in carrying out its responsibilities for accountable financial management, good corporate governance, maintaining an effective system of internal control and risk management, and fostering an ethical environment. The successful applicant must have relevant industry experience, tertiary qualifications in a related field, and be able to provide specialist knowledge in one or more of the following: local government, financial compliance, risk management, legal compliance, Board/Committee governance, business management and internal controls. Your professional organisational, governance, problem-solving and strategic planning skills will need to be complemented by flexibility, energy and vision. This represents an opportunity to make a genuine and valuable contribution to Council.
