Our team The First Nations Engagement and Partnerships Directorate is a newly established, centralised function embedded in the Minerals, Energy and Groundwater (MEG) Division to strengthen First Nations engagement, partnerships and strategic development across the organisation. The key duties of the position include The Manager, Science Integration and Partnerships will play a crucial role in integrating geoscience with community-led initiatives, particularly focusing on partnerships with First Nations communities. This role will involve developing relationships and leading co-designed activities that connects geoscience knowledge with the needs and aspirations of First Nations communities, fostering mutually beneficial, sustainable outcomes. In this role you will: Strengthen and build impactful and respectful relationships with First Nations peoples, communities and organisations, providing inclusive and meaningful participation and opportunities for partnership. Increase awareness and support for geoscience, in regional and remote communities, with a particular focus and direct engagement where Geoscience Australia activities for priority and funded programs occur. Create opportunities for increased capability building and knowledge sharing in data collection and use of geoscience information. Collaborate with First Nations groups to advance co-designed tools, partnerships and First Nations led projects, which may include knowledge sharing and training, to build science capability and capacity to support the responsible management of Country. Foster shared decision-making and implement programs of work to support First Nations priorities in the application of geoscience to land and water management, ensuring clear goals and adherence to budgets. Provide strategic direction and culturally sensitive support to team members, ensuring high-quality project outcomes. Represent Geoscience Australia at meetings, conferences, and community events, promoting the agency's interests and fostering collaborative partnerships. To be successful in the role you will: Translate complex scientific information into plain language for diverse audiences, including First Nations peoples and groups. Translate strategic priorities into actionable tasks and generate innovative solutions. Construct and manage shared programs of work with clear objectives, anticipating changes and building contingencies. Build and sustain trust-based relationships ensuring effective and respectful communication and collaboration with First Nations peoples. Foster a culture of scientific and program integration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Lead and inspire a team, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in geoscience or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in geoscience project management and multidisciplinary program design, particularly in rural, remote, or First Nations communities. Proven experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, organisations or stakeholders.
