Your Role The role of the Deputy Property Manager is work closely with the Property Manager in the joint leadership and management of the VIC mid-market Property portfolio. The Deputy role will take the lead for the broader team in driving operational performance in relation to pre and post bind activity, ownership for portfolio growth in the lower mid-market & delivery of the Strata strategy. In addition to the operation functions, this role will have direct people leadership responsibility, provide technical support with underwriting referrals, coaching and advice to underwriters as well as market facing responsibilities as a senior leader in the team. Your Responsibilities Achievement of the Property Practice financial budget for the aligned channel Underwriting Profit - Achievement of the Property unit’s rate and Loss ratio target’s - Developing and implementing the unit’s business plan - Analysing profit potential of the book of business and setting a strategy for capitalising on market opportunities. - Analysing problems of the book, determining appropriate business actions to improve position and implementing those actions, in conjunction with other Property Management. - Provide support to the broader Property Underwriting team as an escalation point for underwriting referrals & underwriting guidance. Premium Growth - Meeting growth objectives of business plan including New Business, Rate & Retention targets. - Underwrite new and renewal business in line with current underwriting selection and pricing guidelines & manage referrals within team - Achievement of target product growth goals. - Successful interaction of unit with Operations, Claims, Global Property and Casualty, and Technical Services. Sales & Marketing: - Develop & implement an effective business development & engagement strategy to achieve financial metrics to the assigned broker channels. - Develop and execute within the team a sales culture where effective sales pipelines are built and prospects driven to conversion; cross sell opportunities are leveraged with other lines of business and new buyer activities leveraged. - Develop and execute business plans for the assigned broker channel in accordance with P&C framework - Building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with Producers and Insured’s. - Oversee effective Broker sales visits & education plans Underwriting Quality & Integrity - Ensure unit adherence to appropriate underwriting standards - Achieve/exceed Underwriting Audit Scores and work with underwriters on areas of improvement - Oversee the maintenance of appropriate file documentation; ensure accurate risk reports are completed and Underwriting Authority sought in advance where required. - Ensure underwriters complete pre-underwriting guides on accounts which required - Manage effective & appropriate unit communication with support teams - Ensure timely & accurate underwriting administration & file management including completion of raters & pricing tools, clearance of outstanding submissions, closing reworks etc Staff Development - Recruiting, motivating, managing, developing and retaining quality P&C staff - Managing staff performance issues - When opportunities arise assume acting responsibilities in the VIC Property Manager role and leadership across the broader VIC Property Underwriting team - Implementing Chubb’s diverse workplace strategy - Support the development and inclusion of Underwriting Assistant resources across the broader team - Determining training needs within the unit, to be addressed through Branch training Calendar - Conducting annual performance appraisals with direct reports and overseeing the effective and timely management of this process with product management Expense Control and Service Standards - Adhering to travel and promotional budgets for Property, including monthly T&E submission process - Using cost-effective resources such as Loss Control, Premium Audit, Claims, Customer Services as well as underwriting information reports and marketing materials - Ensure unit adherence to expected Broker Service Standards Qualifications Your Skills & Experience Underwriting knowledge in Property lines Demonstrated maturity to manage an effective outcome to complex customer & staffing issues Self-motivated and driven to achieve goals Proven operations management capabilities Proven record of successful underwriting management of a portfolio of Property business Proven record of successful growth of profitable specialty business, through both new business and renewal growth Good profile in the broker market with proven marketing success in developing key broker relationships and achievement of GWP growth Experience in people management and staff development Demonstrated adherence to underwriting standards, policies and processes Applications Open: 23/01/2026 Application close: 23/02/2026 We offer you the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic and agile environment where continuous development is encouraged throughout your career, both locally and globally.
